Want to avoid using chemical fertilizers? Here are some ideas for fertilizers that you may not have thought of:

• Crushed eggshells fertilize and help to aerate the soil as well.
• Both plants and my hips love starch. Pour the water you use to
  boil pasta with on your plants. (After the water has cooled, of course!
• Used fish tank water is great for plants!
• Used coffee grounds are rich in nutrients and make a great addition to your compost pile.   
• Rabbit poo makes some of the best natural fertilizer there is!
