    Heritage seeds

Do you enjoy growing your plants from seed, starting some
indoors and direct sowing others? I do. I enjoy wandering through the seed
catalogues in the late winter months as I plan the year’s garden. I do not buy
that many seeds, anymore, because I save what I need from year to year and have
    an affinity for perennials.

However, when I do buy seeds I look for  heritage or
heirloom varieties. By "heirloom" or "heritage" seeds I
mean traditional varieties that have not been modified by hybridization or
genetic engineering. These are open-pollinated, and the seeds collected will
    reproduce true to the parents.

This way I know what I am getting. One of my favourite seed
companies is Terra Edibles. Terra Edibles is located in Foxboro Ontario but have an
online catalogue. They offer organically grown and heritage varieties.

Terra Edibles is a family run business and sell my favourite
tomato seeds, the Camp Joy Cherry tomato. I have been growing Camp Joys for seven years now, both indoors and out, and find them not only delicious but
    easy to care for.

If you have not yet bought all your seeds, or just can’t
resist buying more give heritage seeds some thought.
