    The Accessible Garden

Anyone can enjoy the pleasures that gardening brings. If you
have a garden design that meets your needs. If you have the appropriate tools
with which to maintain that garden you can enjoy one of Life’s great activities, growing your own plants.

What you grow is up to you. Your garden is a reflection of
who you are. It is your place to be creative; to have fun and experiment. Today we
look at a few tools that make gardening easier. Tomorrow we will look at an
    array of design options.

Your choice of garden tools will depend upon your needs.
Before you buy, make an assessment. For example, do you have a bad back, bad
knees, heart condition, need a walker or wheelchair to get around?

There are tools that can enable you to garden regardless of
the results of the assessment. Companies make garden tools with special grips
and extendable handles. There are kneeling pads, carts and garden tool caddies
that double as a bench. Trellises, raised beds and other design structures mean
that you do not need to kneel or bend down.

Anyone can garden. It is a matter of selecting the design,
the plants and the tools that match your wants and needs.
