Via Garden Rant, here’s an article on front yard gardening, which is gaining popularity. I’m growing my veggies in containers in my front yard. I do this for a couple of reasons.
The first reason I garden in my front yard rather than my back yard is because I have terrible soil in my back yard. I tried to garden back there last year, and I couldn’t keep the poor plants alive.
The second reason is because I sit on my front porch quite a bit and can keep an eye on the plants. I can see if they’re getting droopy and need water, or if they seem overwatered or stressed or anything. If they’re stressed, I can sing them songs. Or, not.
I haven’t had any complaints from the neighbors. I keep the plants looking tidy in their containers. Well, my orange tree looks kind of scraggly, but all in all, my plants look neat and tidy. Next year, I think I’m going to do this on a larger scale and cover more of the yard. We’ll see what the neighbors think next year.
