Veggie Gardening: Paying For Itself In Many Ways

Gardening_015At the grocery store today, the kids were all over me to buy produce, as they usually are. I have strange kids that love tomatoes and celery and cucumbers, etc.

I felt vindicated when they asked me for cucumbers and tomatoes today. I was able to tell them we had some at home, freshly picked from our garden. The best part about it all was the fact that everything was grown fairly organically (I had soil that had fertilizer in it, I think), so not only was I saving money on produce in general, but I’m saving more because it’s organic. Ish.

The other really cool thing is, the kids are really excited about what we can grow next year. High on their list is broccoli and asparagus. (Told ya my kids are weird!) Anybody know anything about whether these plants will work or not in containers?
