For those of us living in the Southeastern United States, the news is not good. I’ll let Southern Beale tell it (via Music City Bloggers):
100
PERCENT OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE IS CLASSIFIED IN A SEVERE
DROUGHT…AT LEAST 91 PERCENT OF THE STATE IS CLASSIFIED IN AN EXTREME
DROUGHT…AND 39 PERCENT OF THE STATE IS CLASSIFIED IN AN
EXCEPTIONAL DROUGHT.According
to this report, since June 1 Nashville has recorded only 3.87 inches of
rain; as for August, we’ve recorded just 0.03 inches.
Now, it did rain here last night, but it wasn’t enough. It would have to rain every day for a month to be enough, I believe. This week I will be going around the area, capturing pictures of what the drought has caused. We have all sorts of problems resulting from the drought, from bad tasting water to trees literally falling down, to it looking like fall in late August without the benefit of the weather cooling off.
I’ve been, as Roger Abramson says, agnostic on global warming, but now I’m thinking there’s more to it than I had originally thought.

That is terrible. Maybe you should move to Missouri. We have had a ton of rain here in the last two days. But I know we have been dry for a while so I do feel your pain. I hope you get some moisture soon!
