I keep my cats inside to significantly increase their lifespan. Even if I didn’t want to keep them inside, they are not the sort of cats that want to go outside anyway. They like watching through the window, kind of like kitty TV. However, if we leave the door open, they don’t try to go out, it’s just like more interactive kitty TV to them.
We have a neighbor that clearly doesn’t feel the same way- they have a cat that gleefully comes over and digs through my garden every single day. When the cat is finished digging through my garden, it thoughtfully goes and walks on my car to clean its paws off. Oh, how I love having kitty footprints on my car.
So I’ve been looking for ways to keep cats out of my garden. I’ve found several ideas on the internet, such as:
*Plant lavender, cats hate the scent. (Cool, I can do that)
*Lion dung makes cats stay far away. (Does anyone have a lion I could borrow for a few days?)
*Catch the cat and rub its nose in it, then throw it into the next door garden. (Oh, I’m sure once I get out of the hospital, having recovered from my wounds, that cat would stay far, far away. Not.)
*Place pine cones around garden borders. (Didn’t you know cats can’t cross pine cone borders? Kind of like how a witch can’t come into your house unless invited.)
*Buy an ultrasonic cat repeller. (Because my cats would be SO down with that idea.)
Looks like I’m going to be planting lavender. Do you guys have any sure-fire ways to keep cats out of your garden?
