Why The Migrating Birds Consider My House A Great Pit Stop

DeerLately my house has had a whole lot of wildlife visitors. I watched some deer wander through my backyard last night and I saw about 50 million birds landing on my roof this morning. Seems my house is a popular stop for the animals this time of year.

I always make sure to put out some tasty treats for the birds who migrate south in the winter. We’re south, but not that far south, so we’re merely a pit stop on the way to where it will be actually warm.

Because we’re a pit stop, I like to leave out some special treats for the migratory birds. I make sure there is always some fresh, shallow water (I like to use one of those plastic saucer thingies you set underneath pots to keep them from leaking everywhere) and I keep my bird feeders especially full during the autumn months.

And to keep the squirrels away from the bird food? I am totally going to try this squirrel feeder!
