I don’t remember where I originally saw the Growing Challenge, but I’m glad I did. I added the blog who is hosting the Growing Challenge, Elements in Time to my feed reader, and there is so much useful info there, I could link them nearly every day.
The roundups Melinda does over there are fabulous as well. She linked to a very helpful post about starting a garden from Eat Close To Home that I wish I had seen before I started gardening a couple of years ago.
Lately I’ve found a whole lot of garden bloggers that are so approachable and nice, that I just have to say thank you. Several months ago I was only reading gardening blogs that were so expert and holier than thou, that I was scared to even comment on them, lest they think I was a complete moron.
When I first started writing for this blog, I told the site owners that I was new to gardening, but I’d have my dad’s advice to help back up my writing. That was nearly a year ago, and my dad had already been diagnosed with end stage renal failure, but at the time, he wasn’t sick like he is now. Now he’s very sick and snappish and tired, I hate to bother him with silly questions about gardening. My other gardening go-to, my grandmother, died suddenly in August, so I don’t have her anymore either.
That’s why I can’t thank the really approachable gardening bloggers enough. They write in a clear, understandable way and they really make gardening come alive. Over the next several weeks, I’ll be spotlighting the people I’ve been reading that really make gardening come alive for me.

Hiya! Glad you found the "starting a garden from scratch" post helpful. Stay tuned to http://eatclosetohome.wordpress.com/ - I'll be adding posts about choosing what to plant, and a link to a free interactive garden planner as soon as I get it done!
And I second your big "Thank You" to all the garden bloggers out there - unfailingly helpful, they are! Did you see the Victory Garden Drive? http://www.victorygardendrive.blogspot.com/ They're hooking new gardeners up with experienced gardeners so you can have personal help as you start a garden! Their goal is 2 million new gardens this year!
