Can I just express my jealousy that Rhonda Jean at Down To Earth lives in a climate where she can grow banana trees in her backyard? Seriously, that has to be the coolest thing ever.
I read somewhere that you can grow dwarf banana trees, but have not yet had time to investigate the claim. If it’s true, I am totally getting one. I’ve been really enjoying my dwarf orange tree, even if the actual orange I managed to grow doesn’t seem it will ever turn orange. I read that the oranges on my orange tree may never turn completely orange, but be a shade of yellow, but this orange still has a few flecks of green. So frustrating.
Next spring, I think I’ll get a lime tree to match the orange tree so I can make a key lime pie and drink a glass of orange juice.

gasp! I grew up in Miami, and in our yard we had a dwarf banana tree, a key lime tree, 2 grapefruit trees, and an avocado tree. When I was really little, we had 8 coconut palms that produced coconuts, but a "fungus" killed a bunch of the trees down in South Florida when I was about 10 or so.
Anyway, yeah…this brought back memories…I wish we could grow some banana trees here in Tennessee!
