Dave at The Home Garden reminds us that today is Arbor Day and gives us some fine reasons to plant a tree. I won’t be planting a tree for Arbor Day specifically, but I will be planting one fairly soon- Mother’s Day.
I lost my grandma last August, and something she told me she’d like done in her honor is to have a tree planted in her honor. Difficulty: she didn’t tell me what kind of tree to plant in her honor. I’ve been thinking about the big, swishy oak and maple trees that grew tall and proud in her yard when I was a kid.
These skinny, tall Tennessee trees just don’t do her justice. My grandma was like a rock, strong and steadfast. I’m thinking possibly a Pin Oak. I’ve got a bit of time left to think about it.
