I love to see what gardeners in other parts of the country are doing with their gardens. This one is a gardener in Florida. They’re so much farther ahead than we are in Tennessee! Go to the LJ gardening community for more pics and a video.

One of the hardest things for me about the Murfreesboro tornado aftermath is seeing all the destroyed trees. One of the places I often drive by has a gigantic tree trunk piled in the mess of the destruction. I found this site today while looking around- HelpTheBoro.org which is apparently really focusing on replanting Murfreesboro. Good on ‘em, the town sure needs it.
I’ve been hearing about no-dig gardening and wondering where I could find out more about it. I don’t have to wonder anymore, Tree Hugger has a great how-to guide! Woot!
At least I have green stuff in my backyard, never mind that it’s mostly weeds. (Posted on Thursday because I’m an idiot and saved instead of publishing.)
My good friend Newscoma needs to find homes for the puppies that resulted from their taking in a pregnant dog. I would adopt one, but I’m at my limit of 5 animals in this house, I simply cannnot take in any more. There are pictures and descriptions of each of them at her website. I’d like to personally offer that I’ll drive up to 6 hours in any direction from Nashville to bring a puppy to you if you can adopt. I would also drive out to Charleston, SC or Wilmington, NC, if you live there and want to adopt. (I have friends and beaches out there, haha.) Email me at badbadivy@gmail.com if you are interested.
Over at the Fun Times Guide To Living Green, there are several great interviews and info about Earth Hour in Nashville. Nashville was a flagship city and it went over really well here! Here’s my fave video, an exclusive interview with Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.
