    Did you know?

  • Quick test: is it a weed or a plant? If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Forecast: Still Too Hot To Garden

    Forecast

Since I started writing this post, the temp has actually crept up to 110 degrees. This is ridiculous. My grass is all dead, none of my plants look healthy, other than my orange tree, which amazingly seems to be quite happy with all this heat. Even my jalapeño peppers are looking puny, which amazes me, since they’re a hot weather kinda plant.

So if you’re tired of hearing me complain about the heat (I’m even tired of hearing me complain about the heat), go check out some links!

Gardener’s Supply Company is having a hot summer sale! Hat tip goes to Stop The Ride.

Garden Rant links to an article about how to work around the summer heat and drought. It’s a must-read for people that are suffering from this drought.

Earthly Garden on George Michael’s new gardening obsession. Of course, it’s because he has to do community service, but maybe it’ll stick!

Stay cool, Shakyarders, it’s a hot one!

    Forecast: Too Hot To Garden

ForecastThat was at 10:45 this morning. It was ridiculously hot even at midnight last night, when I was taking my dog outside and watering my plants. Yes, I water my plants at midnight. Yes, I’m sure that’s probably the wrong time. No, I don’t care.

So in lieu of some actual gardening, let’s stay inside and read some interesting links I’ve picked up on the interweb lately.

Remember my post yesterday about what to do with zucchini? Frugal upstate has me beat with two posts about what to do with zucchini. Great info there, check it out.

Do you secretly love your weeds outside? Now you can bring them inside. If you’re into that sort of thing, that is.

Ugly gardening/landscaping, we’ve all seen it. There’s a good discussion happening over at Garden Rant about the uglies. I’m a despiser of lawn ornaments, myself. Oh, and cars on the lawn. HATE THAT!

Hanna over at This Garden Is Illegal has started a fab custom search thingy over at Google that only searches gardening blogs. What a fab idea!

Remember my post about collecting rainwater? Kenny over at Veggie Gardening Tips has a great post about whether or not the collected rainwater is safe to use. Good stuff.

Finally, a bit of self-promoting- go check out my post on making a lemonade slush. Go make one and try to keep cool!
